The White Coat Ceremony is an exciting and meaningful event for medical students, their families, and guests. We want the event to run as smoothly as possible. To help answer questions you may have as guests to this event, we are happy to provide this information.

When and where will the White Coat Ceremony take place?

The 2024 White Coat Ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University. The address for the UCCU Center is 800 West University Parkway, Orem, UT 84097.

When will the ceremony conclude?

We anticipate the ceremony will last approximately two hours. We ask that all guests remain seated until the recessional concludes.

What time do the doors open for guests?

Doors to the UCCU Center will open at 9:30 a.m. (However, we recommend that guests arrive at 8:30 a.m.) Guests are not allowed inside the event center prior to doors opening. Guests also will not be allowed in the student and faculty staging area.

Do I need a ticket to attend?

No tickets are required for this event.

Can I bring an infant or small child?

Yes, guests of all ages are encouraged to attend. We ask that guests take crying children out of the arena so the ceremony is not disrupted.

What is the recommended attire for guests?

The recommended attire is business casual.

How will seating work?

Guest seating is available on a first come, first-serve basis for all general seating areas. (We recommend that guests arrive at 8:30 a.m.) The event venue provides us with ample seating so there is no limitation on guest attendance. Areas stanchioned off (including the floor area of the arena) are not available to guests as they are reserved for faculty, staff, and distinguished guests.

Will there be professional photographs taken?

Yes, we have arranged for professional photographers to capture the students as they cross the stage and receive their white coats. Professional headshots of the students and a class photo will also be taken during Orientation Week. Students will receive information on how to order these photographs directly from the professional photographer. Candid photos will also be taken before, during, and after the ceremony. These photographs will be available for download within a week or two of the ceremony. Additional information will be provided.

Can guests take photographs or videos?

Yes, guests may take photographs and video. Please be mindful that aisles, walkways, and the area in front of the stage must remain clear for traffic flow, safety, and so the professional photographers have unobstructed access. Guests will NOT be permitted in the staging area, behind the platform, or in front of the seating area. Please show courtesy to those around you, do not block the view of other guests, and keep all aisles and walkways clear.

Are there hotel and dining options in the area?

Noorda-COM has established partnerships with two local hotels; they offer the following discount for Noorda-COM visitors.

There also are numerous hotel options in the heart of historic downtown Provo which is a short distance to the Noorda-COM campus, as well as additional hotel options closer to the UCCU Center.   For more information on hotel options, visit: https://www.utahvalley.com/stay.
